Established in 2003, the Pilates Health and Fitness instructors are the longest running Pilates classes in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
Four fully-qualified Pilates instructors provide Pilates instruction to suit all ages and fitness levels.

About Pilates
The Pilates system was created by Joseph Pilates, a gymnast born in Germany. He designed a system of exercises during the First World War to improve the rehabilitation for many returning veterans. He recommended a few precise movements emphasizing control and form to aid injured soldiers in regaining their health by strengthening, stretching, and stabilizing key muscles. Pilates created "The Pilates Principles" to condition the entire body: proper alignment, centering, concentration, control, precision, breathing, and flowing movement.
Over the years, the fundamental Pilates exercises have evolved, providing a wealth of exercises to help strengthen and mobilise the human body. Different pieces of equipment can be used and at the Pilates Studio, Scarborough, we use Stabilising Balls, Bands, Weights and Rollers to assist or increase the complexity of a movement.
Types of classes.
Pure Pilates - Floor-based Pilates occasionally using equipment. Suitable from beginner level upwards. All ages and levels of fitness welcome. **
** Pregnant mums can attend any of the Pure Pilates classes, as the exercises will be adapted to suit.
